By Zach Couldrey: Business Leadership CEO

2021 Evolve Conference Notre Dame Business Leadership On April 7th, students of the “Business Leadership” class organized Notre Dame’s 18th annual conference - “Evolve; Learn, Grow, Adapt.” The Leadership Class chose this slogan as it encapsulates what society has been forced into during the 'Covid' pandemic. The distancing measures have forced society to connect in new ways and learn how to unite through virtual platforms. In spite of this, communities have grown stronger and found hope during these times of uncertainty. We hope that our theme, Evolve: Learn-Grow-Adapt, inspires you to stay positive and continue to discover new opportunities.

On the day of the conference, attendees were given the opportunity to listen to inspiring messages offered by three guest speakers. The day began with Wali Shah, a poet from Mississauga, Ontario who has impressed notable figures like Seth Rogen, Chris Hadfield, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Kendrick Lamar with his freestyle poetry performances. Following Wali’s speech, our next guest speaker was Alvin Law. He is a musician, former radio broadcaster, and Hall of Fame speaker from Yorkton, Saskatchewan. He inspires people to remove the word "can't" from their vocabulary. Our final message was delivered by keynote speaker, Jon Montgomery. He was born in Russel, Manitoba, is an Olympic gold medalist in skeleton racing, and is the host of The Amazing Race Canada. All three guest speakers shared inspiring messages that related to our theme and students at Notre Dame.

This year was the first ever conference to be held in a virtual setting. Our event was hosted on “Microsoft Teams Live” where approximately 500 guests tuned in. Students and teachers joined the event from both inside the school and at their homes. The invite was also extended to donors, parents, and other guests to join our event online.

Congratulations to the quad 3 “Business Leadership” class for organizing this unique conference that was truly inspiring and impactful. The class, alongside their teacher Ms. Power, demonstrated perseverance, teamwork, and dedication during these unique times. Together; they learned from the experiences they encountered, grew their leadership skills, and adapted to the ever changing surroundings. Thank you to all who attended our event and we hope to see you in June for our Quad 4 Leadership Conference!
