Introducing your 2016 keynote Speaker, Shawn Desman!
Desman has always been known as a wholesome guy with a certain boyish charm appealing to a young swooning female demographic. But with his new singles “Victoria” and “Obsession” Desman leaves no doubt that he is all grown up.
His accolades are numerous including a platinum debut album, a Juno Award winning sophomore album for Best R&B/Soul Recording and many chart-topping singles and videos. His recent project ALIVE trailblazed it's way through film and TV industries garnering nominations for two Canadian Screen Awards in the best youth programming categories, an Atomic Award for Best Collaboration, and won Best Outstanding Short Film at the Reel World Film Festival.
From the moment he released his self titled debut CD in the fall of 2002, Shawn Desman has enjoyed phenomenal success. His album spent an incredible 49 weeks on the SoundScan Top 200 sales chart and produced two Top 10 singles and two #1 videos.
Desman’s visibility then soared to even greater heights after the subsequent release of his sophomore album “Back for More” which produced a #1 hit single, three Top 10 hit singles, and also garnered him a Juno Award for Best R&B/Soul Recording. His high-energy, infectious single, “Let’s Go,” exploded onto the Top 40 radio chart after just 1 week, peaking at #1 proving he is a superstar entertainer worthy of all the critical acclaim and destined to be at the forefront of the global music stage.
After some time away from music to work on his acting, his first single from his album FRESH was the Gold selling hit “Shiver”. The MMVA nominated video for “Shiver”, choreographed by Luther Brown of So You Think You Can Dance Canada and directed by RT!, was a classic piece reflecting Desman’s musical vision through movement.
It’s undeniable that Desman’s fifth highly anticipated album will represent a tremendous leap in the next direction for a young man who has spent most of his life working diligently at becoming a world renowned entertainer, with personal and professional accomplishments that leave an indelible mark on the human experience.
